Ideas come to life
After joining the Barrel Challenge in 2018 — something completely different from cruising in a luxury sports car — Erwin fell in love with group road trips. During the corona years (2020) he traded his motorcycle for a Corvette C6. An Audi RS5 followed, and the love for fast cars began.
Erwin & Shirley regularly went out touring together. On those drives, ideas kept popping up. How cool would it be to share this with other enthusiasts and bring people with the same passion together?
The Heuvelland Edition
Erwin & Shirley put the ideas on paper. Erwin — an IT professional — built a website himself, and via social media they promoted their first edition: the Heuvelland Edition in South Limburg.
On Sunday 19 July 2020, the first FancyCarTours edition was a fact. After that day they knew for sure: “We’re going to do this more often!” FancyCarTours was born.
Partners in crime
Erwin & Shirley are not only partners in daily life, but also partners in crime at work. With Erwin’s IT background and commercial skills and Shirley’s creativity and organisational talent, they form a golden team.
Their “free time” often goes into planning new editions, mapping routes and selecting restaurants. Luckily they both love travel and food.
Every edition is checked and driven in advance by Erwin & Shirley themselves — including the international trips. They leave nothing to chance and want to stand 100% behind every tour they offer.

According to Erwin and Shirley, FancyCarTours’ success is not only about the route or the cars, but above all about the atmosphere they create.
“We want everyone to feel welcome and truly part of the tour. It’s about the social side, the conversations that start on the road, the moments that are shared,” says Erwin.
Shirley adds: “Every tour has its own unique vibe — not only because of the places we visit, but because of the people who join. The group makes the tour.”
Challenge and fulfilment
Organising a successful car tour is more than setting a beautiful route. “There’s much more to it than most people think. We need the right route and the perfect balance between free time and organised activities,” says Erwin.
Shirley: “We always have to consider different wishes. Some want to enjoy the driving, others look forward to cultural stops. Building a programme that fits all of that is a challenge — and that’s exactly what makes it fun.”
“Seeing people happy and having a great time — that gives the greatest fulfilment,” Erwin concludes.
The future
What does the future hold for FancyCarTours? Shirley: “We’re always looking for new destinations and routes that can surprise our travellers. We want to keep growing, and maybe develop new formats like Experience tours or special events.”
Erwin: “We always have plenty of new ideas, and the passion for FancyCarTours keeps growing. We hope to share many more adventures with our participants.”
