Norway through the eyes of Gerwin & José Koopman
Hello readers. My name is José Koopman and together with my husband Gerwin I made this unforgettable trip to Norway. For several years we have been driving with FancyCarTours – first in our Porsche Boxster, and now in the Porsche Spyder. This special trip was our first with the Spyder, which made the adventure even more special. And believe me… Norway with FancyCarTours really is very special.
The start of the adventure
To start the trip well rested, we left a day early and spent the night in Denmark. The next morning we continued through the beautiful Danish landscape – roof down, the sun on our faces and a wonderful sense of freedom. On arrival at the hotel we met the other participants. A friendly drink and an atmospheric dinner set the tone for what would become an unforgettable journey.
The crossing and the first kilometres in Norway
Early in the morning we drove to the boat for the crossing. Once on Norwegian soil we were sold straight away: impressive nature, silence and space. After a short route and a lovely lunch we drove on to a splendid hotel, where we dined that evening during a stylish "Dress to Impress" night. The tone was set!
Mountains, fjords and endless views
The days that followed were nothing short of magical. After a quiet breakfast and a refreshing walk we set off on three beautiful routes: the coffee stop, the lunch stop and finally our destination — a wellness hotel on a fjord. The sun was shining, the roof was down, and the sound of the engines mixed with the fresh mountain air. The roads wound gracefully through the landscape, along glittering lakes and snow-covered peaks. Wherever you looked, panoramas unfolded that were almost too beautiful to be real.
Our lunch spot was an old barn, converted into a charming restaurant with a view of a glacier — literally 'heaven on earth'.
In a single day we drove from snow to sun and fjords — as if you were driving through the seasons.

From tunnels to a Viking village
Even the rain could not spoil our fun. We drove through long tunnels, over winding mountain roads and past majestic waterfalls that thundered down. In the evening we stayed in an authentic Viking village, where we were immersed in the fascinating history of the Vikings. A unique piece of culture, rounded off with an atmospheric dinner under a sky full of stars.
The Nordic Road – driving through a dream
One of the absolute highlights was the Nordic Road. Snow and ice gave way to green valleys, imposing mountains and brilliant sun — the landscape changed every hour and it felt as if we were driving through a dream.
We had lunch with a view of a glittering fjord and ended the day at a beautiful wellness resort, where relaxation came first. The next morning we switched to a different kind of horsepower: a spectacular RIB boat trip through the fjords. What a sensation! An hour of pure adrenaline between waterfalls, rock formations and endless views.
The Atlantic Road & culinary surprises
We visited a traditional salmon smokehouse, where we learned all about the age-old craft — and of course we were allowed to taste that delicious, freshly smoked salmon.
Then came a drive along the famous Atlantic Road, a masterpiece of winding bridges between sea and mountains. Lunch was on an idyllic island, reachable only by boat — as if we had stepped into a fairy tale for a moment. In the evening we stayed in authentic Norwegian cabins, where we were treated to a folklore performance and a dinner of reindeer.
From rugged mountains to Oslo
The route took us on through the impressive Rondane National Park — a landscape of rugged nature, flowing rivers and breathtaking mountain passes. After a convivial lunch in a cosy mountain restaurant we drove on to our next hotel, beautifully situated on top of a mountain, with a view over a glittering lake and an impressive wine cellar. During the last days of the trip we headed towards Oslo, where FancyCarTours turned even the journey back into a celebration. A lovely lunch at the Norwegian Folk Museum, followed by a walk through the atmospheric open-air museum, made the farewell just a little softer. A perfect close to an unforgettable trip.
Back to Denmark
After eleven days full of impressions and unforgettable moments we reached the point where it had all begun: Denmark. When a little fox appeared on arrival, it felt almost like a symbolic farewell to the beautiful nature that had surrounded us the whole trip. On the last evening we looked back together on what had truly been a fantastic and unforgettable journey — an adventure we will cherish for a long time.
In closing
Norway… eleven days with like-minded people, beautiful cars and perfect organisation by Erwin and Shirley. Everything fitted – every route, every location and every moment was special. We are grateful for this particular experience.
